Do you ever find yourself in a buying rut. Do you have to catch ‘em all even though you own something similar already? Hello my friend and welcome to my world.
I had a good clear out of my make up drawers the other day
and came across the same lip products in similar colours. I also own a lot of mac lipsticks but, I am
happy to say the shade for each are pretty distinct. With my Fresh, Lipstick queen and Glossy
stick collection I came across similar colours in each group. Which
shocked me, as had always thought I had a good varied collection. Clearly I had been kidding myself.
I have certain colours that I gravitate towards. Pinks and berry reds are high on my
list. The trouble with this is I forget that I have a certain
colour in my possession and go out and purchase something in a similar
colour.
This isn’t the first time I have come across this in my
beauty purchases, I currently have 8 barbie pink nail polish colours which
really aren’t that dissimilar from each other.
I am currently in the process of trying to cut it down and give some
bottles away. The only one that I use all the time is watermelon by Essie so the other 7 are a bit redundant.
This kind of spending needs to stop in my life, I am happy
to re-purchase something if I love it.
But really how many berry toned and pink lipsticks does one girl
need? Not as many as I have is the
answer. One of the things that I am trying to employ now is to wait 24 hours before purchasing something. That way I can check if I have something similar rather than buy the same again. Another trick is to read up reviews on something as well, is it going to be worth spending your money?
What do you buy multiples of over and over again? I surely can’t be the only one buying the
same thing all the time?
Do you have any tips to prevent deja vu spending?
Thanks for reading
Carrie x
