Three of a kind Tinted Moisturiser (okay one BB cream)

Three of a kind Tinted Moisturiser (okay one BB cream)

Tinted Moisturisers, bb creams, honestly people what is the difference?  Let’s not go crazy over the reinvention of the wheel here.   Okay so I am going to say what I truly think here.  (when do I not?).

So I love, (when I say love I mean it in a sarcastic sense) the hype over BB creams …..
What it essentially is, is a tinted moisturiser that in a sheerer form with, or without some added skin care benefits.   There are a bunch of Tinted moisturisers that have the same added skin care benefits but have more coverage.  Also there are tinted moisturisers out there which are sheerer than a BB cream.  So that gives you an idea of what I am talking about.  So at the end of the day it’s not really a big deal, you just have to decide what works for you best?
For example, do you want SPF in your make up?  Or do you add it separately?  Do you want a fuller coverage, or something sheer.  It’s all down to your preference.

Yes I might be a cretin, and people from Asia saying that their BB creams are the cats pyjamas and COMPLETELY different from western bb creams, but can I buy them here?  Can I heck!   So until proven wrong I am going to stand by what I say.

That might make you think that I hate BB creams, no honestly don’t get me wrong I don’t  hate them.  Some of them are fab, but like I said it’s just a different tinted moisturiser in my opinion.   I have bought a couple which I am reviewing so a post will follow soon.  But essentially the three below are what are in my permanent rotation, or what I have re-purchased over the couple of past couple of years.

Just Skin Chantecaille £57 Space NK in store and online
Okay so this is a ridiculous amount to spend on a tinted moisturiser I realise that.  But beauty is my hobby and it’s what I like to spend my wonga on.  Generally I will time the repurchase of this during xmas, and ask for Space NK vouchers which I will spend on this beauty.
The texture of this is very sheer, and it has a spf 15 in it.  Which is good news as you don’t have to worry about sun protection once you slather this on.   I like to use this when my skin is looking good, and I only need a bit of concealer.  It works well with a cream blusher and ties into that dewy luminous make up look sans glitter.
This applies best on the face with fingers.  I find if I use a stippling brush I always over apply on my face.

Oil free Tinted moisturiser £33 Laura Mercier Space NK in store and online, Selfridges, John Lewis, House of Fraser in store and online.

A classic and an original tinted moisturiser, I have been using this stuff for many years and I still go back to it every time I run out.  I use the oil free primer with this and it provides a good dewy base that sticks around all day long.  What a beautiful pair of products that work so well together, could you ask for any more?   This provides a more fuller coverage than the just skin either applied with the fingers or the stippling brush.  During the summer I like to go one shade darker to add a bit of colour to my face and it works very well.   This does contain SPF 20 so again a great added benefit to protect you from the sun.

Garnier BB Cream Miracle skin Perfector  £9.99 available in Boots, Superdrug in store and online.

I love this stuff, I love the price, I love the Garnier smell, I love the dewy tanned look it has on my skin (I get the light which is one shade more orange than my skin tone but somehow it works).  I bought this about 18 months ago and I am on my second tube.  This has the same effect as the Laura Mercier, it’s adds a different tint to my face, but it’s nice and it works for me.  When I feeling a little more Euro-trash and want to be orange I will use this. (no not you’ve been tangoed orange)  I know that is a weird description, but I will often wear this when I have a white shirt and skinny blue jeans it just works okay?   Also a little of this stuff really goes a long long way.  You really don’t need to slather this on.  The texture is sheer and looks good when applied with a stippling brush.

Sorry for the rant, but I hope you found that amusing.  I really hope that clarifies the whole tinted moisturiser BB cream thing.  Its same thing peps let’s not make things more complex than they need to be.

Thanks for reading
