Due to this I didn’t really see a the point in getting it until I swatched a bourjois chocolate bronzer out of curiosity and then fell in love.
It’s an item in your face make up repertoire that adds a depth to your blush. It can brighten you face depending on where you put it. You can wear it solo and fake a sun tan depending on where you put it on your face. I like a bit of tinted moisturiser, bronzer, and a lip balm for a really pared down look.
Nars Laguna Bronzer £25 Space NK online and in store, most department stores.
If you do buy one thing from Nars make it this or one of their blushers. They are simply so well made, the shades are wonderful. When it comes to a bronzer Nars really nails it. The brown is a yellow/gold based brown. This is better than an orange based brown because it give you a more natural tanned look. The premise of bronzer is to emulate what you look like after you have been in the sun an hour. I luckily go brown straight away. I only tend to go red when I take the mick and go out in the African or Australian sun with no SPF on, and that’s after a good four hours. I don’t really know anyone who goes orange after being in the sun do you? There is a little gold shimmer threaded through this to give you a bit of luminosity, but not so much that you are disco- ball -esque. This goes with most blushers especially a pink or a coral, I have worn this during the day and at night it works for most occasions. This is a luxe essential to any make up kit.
Thebalm Bahama Mama £10 Amazon * price dependant on who you shop with
I got this from Amazon on the cheap as the packaging on the outside had been damaged. What was damaged was the outside sleeve which I chucked. This I an excellent bronzer. This is a deeper coloured yellow based brown(darker than the Nars Laguna), but without the shimmer. I would say in some lights it look greeny yellow, which sounds horrid but it works. I like to use this with deeper pink or plum, as I find this pairs quite well with it. This is a shade that like Laguna will suit most skin shades. I have dressed this up with a matte based evening look where I have gone for a plum blush, dark plum lip and simple eye. I have also dressed this down with a dusky shimmer pink which has looked pretty good too.
Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing powder £5.99 Boots, Superdrug online and in store.
This is the most orangey of the lot, but it’s quite subtle on the skin. Smells like chocolate which is nice, but not essential to bronzing. Goes nice on goes with a lot of my orange based blushers, like Gina from nars as its several shades darker. There is a tinsie amount of glitter in this, and like the colour it's subtle as well. I got the lighter shade of this, and can probably get away with wearing alot of this, however if you are fairer I would advise using a light hand due to the orangyness of this. If you are newbie to bronzer definately get this one instead of shelling out the £25 for Laguna. It really is a brilliant bronzer for the price.
