The problem with Denim Shorts

One of the first things I wrote about on my blog was denim shorts.  Due to the nature of the post, and the fact I had expletives littered throughout I took it down as Google has kittens every time someone types a swear word.

I don’t have a model body, even my best friend could describe me as slender.  Which is fine. I embrace my curves and love myself for who I am, I send out my cosmic love fart into the universe blah, blah. (okay I am serious, and not serious about this.  If you have been reading my blog long enough you know I do get very touchy feeling sometimes, okay well a lot geez give a girl a break already)

However, having a good dollop of self-love for yourself, unfortunately does not mean that the high street is ready to accommodate you and,  make shorts for the rotund of bottom, and chunky of thigh.  (aka my body type)  Shorts are a nightmare to find for me.  Short shorts look obscene on me, and Bermuda shorts look ridiculous.  Between those two types of short out there at the moment there is no in-between.  That is, there WAS no in-between until I found these bad boys……………….

I was very excited to find these in Topshop the other day.  Hallie extracted denim shorts £30.  http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/moto-extracted-hallie-shorts-2705859

One of my favourite bloggers (www.viviannadoesmakeup.com) had raved about these a few days ago, so while I was in Topshop browsing I tried these on in the fitting room.  Honestly I didn’t really expect much given my body shape, but I was pleasantly surprised.  I don’t look ready to walk the catwalk, but by the same merit I don’t look like I going to shift the earth’s gravitational pull with my centre of gravity.  If you catch my drift?  I bought these in the size up, so the size 14 so they sit on my hips as opposed to my waist.

The shorts themselves are artfully distressed, and made of a soft pale denim.  On the first day of wear I took a nap in them that’s how comfy they are.  The length is still short, but they are that magical in-between length that has eluded me for so long.   The length at the back is perfect, and I feel very well covered.   I think I must be doing something right, as my husband who usually does not pay attention to my clothes loves them.

Am I the only one with shorts problems?  Have you got a pair of these, or do you intent to hot foot it to Topshop now?  There are plenty online including this darker pair which I have been eyeing up.

Thanks for reading
