The problem with Denim Shorts

One of the first things I wrote about on my blog was denim shorts.  Due to the nature of the post, and the fact I had expletives littered throughout I took it down as Google has kittens every time someone types a swear word.

I don’t have a model body, even my best friend could describe me as slender.  Which is fine. I embrace my curves and love myself for who I am, I send out my cosmic love fart into the universe blah, blah. (okay I am serious, and not serious about this.  If you have been reading my blog long enough you know I do get very touchy feeling sometimes, okay well a lot geez give a girl a break already)

However, having a good dollop of self-love for yourself, unfortunately does not mean that the high street is ready to accommodate you and,  make shorts for the rotund of bottom, and chunky of thigh.  (aka my body type)  Shorts are a nightmare to find for me.  Short shorts look obscene on me, and Bermuda shorts look ridiculous.  Between those two types of short out there at the moment there is no in-between.  That is, there WAS no in-between until I found these bad boys……………….

I was very excited to find these in Topshop the other day.  Hallie extracted denim shorts £30.  http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/moto-extracted-hallie-shorts-2705859

One of my favourite bloggers (www.viviannadoesmakeup.com) had raved about these a few days ago, so while I was in Topshop browsing I tried these on in the fitting room.  Honestly I didn’t really expect much given my body shape, but I was pleasantly surprised.  I don’t look ready to walk the catwalk, but by the same merit I don’t look like I going to shift the earth’s gravitational pull with my centre of gravity.  If you catch my drift?  I bought these in the size up, so the size 14 so they sit on my hips as opposed to my waist.

The shorts themselves are artfully distressed, and made of a soft pale denim.  On the first day of wear I took a nap in them that’s how comfy they are.  The length is still short, but they are that magical in-between length that has eluded me for so long.   The length at the back is perfect, and I feel very well covered.   I think I must be doing something right, as my husband who usually does not pay attention to my clothes loves them.

Am I the only one with shorts problems?  Have you got a pair of these, or do you intent to hot foot it to Topshop now?  There are plenty online including this darker pair which I have been eyeing up.

Life at the moment - Make up pairings

Good Afternoon Folks

Sorry for the radio silence.  I have had a lot on at the moment.  I am currently in the process of moving flats so I have been getting rid of some stuff, tidying the flat and getting myself ready for the massive up-heaval.

Last week I got made redundant from my job, so I have been trying to come to terms with that in my head.  Due to not having a job I have been running around London trying to get my CV and face out there to as many interviews and job agencies as possible.  Which is completely exhausting as one, you have to meet new people, two behave like a shiny flying unicorn in the hopes that they will hire you, and/or find a job for you quickly.   The interview process is like trying to the following all at the same time: herd cats, do algebra, tie your shoelace with one hand, put your contact lenses in your eyeballs, make people like you. OH and don't forget to relax and let your PERSONALITY shine through on top of all that psstkkt.  Easier said than done people.
When I haven't been performing in front of new people like a perfoming multi-trick pony, I have been upping my fitness in a desperate effort to get myself out of bed in the morning.  One day I ran 7 miles and then decided to do some pretty seriously hard yoga lesson 4 hours later.  Needless to say just thinking about my arms makes them hurt.   I must be a complete dummy because I have signed up to do some pilates as well today at 4pm....
Anyhoo I digress....I am writing this post simply because I have stumbled upon a couple of products that just work perfectly together.  Some of these products I have had difficulty using but, when paired with something else suddenly become a 'go-to' item that is used a lot more.

Diorskin Nude BB creme with Kiehls Micro Blur Skin perfector.
What is better than one skin perfecting product?  Two skin perfecting products paired together makes fully awesome (say awesome in high pitched american voice).  The effect of these together produces a very glowy even texture.  The two products enhance the best parts about each other but doubletime bro. A definite must if you own both of these.

Blink Eyebrow pencil and Maybelline Brow drama sculpting brow mascara.
I got sold this eyebrow pencil about a year ago during an eyebrow defuzzing session and completely forgot about it.  One day I decided to give it a go, and the shade that I have 'cardamon pod' is the perfect dark brown-grey black I've ever come across.  It is the perfect shad for me.  Paired with the brow drama equals perfect Cara brows for the day that don't smear, don't budge.

Baby Lips in Cherry Me and Nars Schiap lipstick
So I have owned Nars Schiap lipstick for a while now.  I love the colour, the opaqueness, the formula.  Unfortunately it does not love me very much.  Despite being a blue based cool pink it simply does not work on me which applied straight from the tube.  I just look weird.  However mixed with and sheered out with Baby lips it is a much more wearable colour for me.  Very happy to stumble upon this pairing.

Mac Woodwinked eyeshadow and Urban decay underground
So it's summer and I have pretty much been sporting a typical 'bronzy eye' all month.  Most days I have been pairing Woodwinked with Underground 24/7 eyeliner.  Woodwinked is a very popular shade at Mac, the reason being its a brown gold dual-chrome eyeshadow.  So when applied it looks like you have applied two eyeshadows instead of one, dependent on how the light catches your eyelid.  Underground is a dark gold/bronze which when I apply it I put on a thick line of it one and blend it with the eyeshadow.   It create definition to the eyes and make a subtle smoky bronze eye look.

What are your ultimate make up pairings?  Any ideas to share with me?
